Sometimes I sit and watch the moonrise
And listen to the whippoorwills haunting cries
Calling to the love he lost
To the cold of winters frost
Beneath the cycles of the moon
One day seems like the next one
Its been a long time since I watched the sun
Setting beyond a line of trees
Branches waving in the evening breeze
Living day-to-day
On the far end of the Milky Way
The Earth circles round the Sun
Its revolutions just begun
The eclipse is coming soon
Just one more cycle of the moon
Somewhere not far, not near
Through the midnight breeze I hear
The soft hoot of an owl
And the wolfs mournful howl.
Staring up at the star-filled sky
I feel no need to ask why
If nowhere else, at least
Here
I am at peace.
